Skiing, Jackson Hole, 1971
6x6 oil on panel, black floater frame
I admire people who love to ski. Bless their hearts, it’s like they’ve never read the book “The Other Side of the Mountain”.
I went skiing once. On the “bunny hill” in the Poconos. Go skiing, they said. It’ll be fun, they said. Then the safety mechanism that’s supposed to release the boot from the ski during a fall, didn’t work, and I almost twisted the bottom half of my leg off. I very nearly had to write my own inspiring biography about how, through dedication, drive, and determination I was able to get disability and never work again. But, alas … my knee healed.
My quads are seizing up just looking at this painting. After age fifty, getting out of a chair is a risk factor for pulling a muscle.
Many thanks to @dear.fran for allowing me to use their photo as a reference!
